The greatest television show ever created was...
(and obviously, explain why that show was so great)
WEEKLY WORK IN 305
These are time sensitive. You do not receive credit if you write them after the deadline each week. Furthermore, if you are in the habit of writing everything on Saturday you will not receive full credit. Why? There would be no time for others to interact with your writing. Write early; write often! Right? Right!
First, there's a blog entry (about 250 words) which will have you respond to a hopefully thought-provoking question. Each week, you must do the blog entry with enough time left in the week to be able to enter into dialogue online with your classmates. Write, reply, write more, reply more, and then write and reply more.
Second, there's a reading. There’s no blog entry associated with this. Just read.
Third, there's a written response to the reading. Your reading and writing on the blog must be completed by the SATURDAY (by midnight) of the week in which the reading falls. This entry should be a long paragraph. YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESPOND TO OTHER STUDENTS' PART THREE EACH WEEK.

The greatest television show ever created would easily be The Andy Griffith Show. It was made in 1960 and ran for 8 years. My parents watched it growing up, and they showed it to me and my brothers when we were growing up as well. My husband and I have started to watch it via Netflix and hope to someday show our kids. It’s the best show because it’s got great moral lessons in each episode, it’s innocent and very family-friendly, and it reminds me of the “good old days”. The relationship between Andy and his son, Opie, reminds me of the relationship my parents have with me and my brothers. Andy always seems to treat Opie with the respect you’d treat an adult with, and holds him accountable for things most parents don’t seem to care about in modern times. Andy teaches Opie a little about growing up and life lessons in each episode, but in a light-hearted, kind way. The town of Mayberry symbolizes the kind of town everyone wishes they grew up in, with Floyd the barber telling random jokes as he cuts hair, the town drunk occasionally riding a cow down Main Street, and Barney (Andy’s deputy) citing every jay-walker he sees while still maintaining a good reputation with the townspeople. Everything seems innocent in Mayberry, and when trouble enters the little town, Andy always seems to know how to take care of it. The humor of The Andy Griffith Show is just right. Barney’s slapstick-type humor (ex: shooting his gun off in his holster every time he tries to demonstrate his “quick draw”) is balanced by Andy’s lighthearted jokes and teasing. Various characters in Mayberry represent people everyone knows, and every single character feels like family. It’s this closeness of Mayberry and the representation of America’s hometown that makes it the best show ever created.
ReplyDeleteThis show brings back such great memories watching it with my dad and grandpa. As a child, I never really appreciated the simple lifestyle that Mayberry represented, but now I wish that we could go back to that simplicity. I love the father-son relationship between Andy and Opie. Barney Fife and Gomer Pyle were my all time favorite characters on that show!! I also loved Aunt Bee…she reminds me so much of my grandma! I've lived in Bakersfield all of my life, so sometimes I think of this little town as a modern day Mayberry. I love my hometown and even though we are a big town, there is still a lot of closeness.
DeleteYour description about this show is spot on. I agree with you about the significance of the show. It provided a familiarity for most people with the right amount of positive fantasy that people lacked in their own reality. It was an overall wholesome and funny show. It would be nice to see something a bit like it in present family television.
DeleteI identify with your post as I grew up in a quaint little mountain town. Everyone knew who the two sheriffs were. When I go to visit my parent's in their little mountain town they often have this show on. I was just mentioning to my dad the other day that the particular form of governance in the town of Mayberry would not work in modern day metropolises such as Los Angeles. Could you imagine sheriffs not carrying a gun while visiting domestic violence disputes in places like Compton?
DeleteThanks everyone! :] I agree that it would be really neat to see something like it in present day, but I wonder just how popular it would be since most shows only succeed now if they contain some sort of sexual or violent element, sadly. :[
DeleteWow, Emily, what a start! This show definitely captures a part of the spirit of the country and for many people represents the values of bygone generations. Your description of the show is quite nice!
ReplyDeleteFor me, the greatest television show every created was Breaking Bad. My decision is rather bias be I am a Chemistry major in college and i do not really watch much TV. So, let me give my reasons why Breaking Bad is the greatest show to ever be invented. Firstly, a show involving chemistry or science will definitely be on my list. Walter White, the main character, is a brilliant and intelligent high school chemistry teacher that was diagnosed with cancer and in order to pay for his ridiculously expensive medical treatment he decided to go in the industry of making illicit drugs. Aside from the making illegal drugs, I was drown by the portrayal of his wit; this is something I don't see often in shows. There was a scene where he used a termite reaction, which is an extremely exothermic (generates heat) reaction, to break into a building. I personally have done this reaction, on a smaller scale of course, as a demonstration for elementary students. This fed my ego, a little, knowing that Walter and I share common knowledge. Secondly, the painfully or wickedly good emotions I got from watching the show. The entire show was staged in a manner that I felt I was actually living the events. The imagery of the scenes, especially the sunrises and sunsets and the sounds of the environment. The attention to details was superb. The show was not like one of those other shows that made five days in 20 seconds; it progressed just at the right pace that you were intrigued but not devastatingly waiting too long, which made the show even more realistic. Thirdly, the thrill, mysteries, acting and the unbreakable determination illustrated throughout the show added to perks of watching it. The characters agony often times gave me comfort in a stranger way. Knowing that my pain is not as bad as theirs made me feel better about myself. It also made me root for the well being of the characters, thus ultimately creating a want to watch another episode. Lastly, the humor calmly downplayed some of the horrifying events. Jessie Pinkman, Saul Goodman, and Hank Shcrader were the three funniest characters, at least in my opinion, of the show. The awkward humor dynamically messed well with the strong violence and the "Breaking Bad" of the show. Overall, I believe that BREAKING BAD is the best show ever created.
ReplyDelete-T.C.
Everyone keeps raving about this show and I even went to the panel at Comic Con but I still have not gotten around to watching it. But if you think this is the greatest show of all time then clearly I need to re adjust my priorities! Netflix here I come.
DeleteI watched the first season and loved it! I still have a long way to go, but I really did enjoy it.
DeleteMichelle, you really should watch it. I highly recommend it.
I particularly like the character Saul Goodman... better call Saul. I thought the show was well done by Vince Gilligan. I am surprised that the show was shot in New Mexico. Did you know that the show was originally written and designed to be shot in modern day San Bernardino County?
DeleteI have heard great things about Breaking bad and everyone keeps telling me to watch it. You made it sound even more interesting and I want to start watching it when I have time becuase I heard its on Netflix.
DeleteBreaking Bad is the best! I absolutely love this show and was obsessed since the very first episode. I love Walt's character. The transformation from wholesome teacher to ruthless drug manufacturer is so intriguing to me. It makes me think of what I would do if I was in the same situation as him. I just love Jesse too. His relationship with Walt is so crazy and messed up but at the same time it's heartwarming to see how they care about each other. The ending was sad but I'm excited for the spin-off with Saul!
DeleteMichelle- It is a must watch. I believe all of the episodes are on netflix now.
DeleteAllison- Keep watching!!! it only gets better. A lot of surprises to come.
Jstone- I knew it was shot in New Mexico but did not know it was suppose to be shot in San Bernardino County. What made them change their minds?
Cecilia- Please do, it is everything i described :)
Kristen- Saul was the funniest, and I hope the spin off is just as good. I would totally do what he did too to sustain my family and myself in such a hard time. The cool thing too was that I actually knew most of the chemistry he was doing in the show was well.
Idk much about Breaking Bad but that theres a guy and he's a chemistry teacher making meth. Other than that, i don't know if you guys keep up with the news and what not, but ever since that showed ended a few months ago i have been seeing more and more crimes dealing with Meth. For example, i read an article where a man was trying to start his own meth business but eventually failed. There are similar cases to this one where people have been trying to create a meth business and being incarcerated for it.
DeleteI believe it was shot in New Mexico because it has become too expensive to shoot in California. New Mexico offers incentives and has no state taxes while in Cali an expensive permit is need for everything.
DeleteThe greatest show ever created has to be I Love Lucy. That is a show that I can put on during anytime of the day and just laugh. The writers of that show were pure genius!! Lucy's character was created to bring humor into the home. I love the 1950s and I honestly wish that I was a young adult during that era. Lucy and her shenanigans with Ethel always put a smile on my face. I like that it provides such a great concept of family. The one thing I do not like about it is how much Lucy waits on Ricky, but you have to realize that that was the time period and that is how women treated their women. My favorite episode was the one where she tries to be a ballerina. She tells the teacher that she is a ballerina, so the teacher expects her to do all of these things in a flawless nature. As a ballerina, it makes me laugh so hard at how ungraceful and uncoordinated she is. You also have the classic wine stomping episode, as well as the chocolate factory episode. Lucy always left me thinking about the choices I make because she would always go out of her way to make something happen. Everything in that show was taken to the extreme, which is what made it funny. The show also always made me think of how Lucy went into situation whole-heartedly and did not worry about what was going to happen. I think going into situations with a whole heart is a great way to live life; however, I think it is important to think of what the outcome will me. I love I Love Lucy. It will always be an all time favorite and I will always be a fan of Lucille Ball. My favorite show on tv currently is The Big Bang Theory. I think that shows has such great comedy in it. I also am such a big nerd, so I love the science aspect to all of it.
ReplyDeleteI have to be honest and say that i always ignore I love Lucy when i see it on the episodes on the channel lists because i did not think it would be funny at all. However, i do like comedy and i guess i should take a look at it. I agree with you about the appreciation for lucy's whole-hearted character and also like the characters who are up for anytime. I also like The Big Bang Theory. They have this unique sense of humor that's different and fun to watch, my favorite is sheldon by the way!!
DeleteSheldon is a classic!! He has to be my favorite character as well!!
DeleteI watched "I Love Lucy" back in high school and I fell in love with that show. I love the humor they put into the show and it helped me relieved my stress from high school dramas :)
DeleteI remember watching I Love Lucy all the time when I was a kid. They would play it everyday.
DeleteI forgot about the Big Bang Theory. I love that show and Sheldon is my favorite character. Being a biology major, I love that I understand their jokes. It makes me think, "hey I know what he meant."
I agree Romalyn…I would always watch it as a stress reliever!! Or I watch it when I'm super sick.
DeleteNoelle-The science jokes that they make that I understand, always makes me laugh!!! That show has a lot of humor to it.
I Love Lucy is one of the greats! :] My favorite episodes are those that involve Lucy and the gang going on vacations or to the cabin in the mountains or the one where Lucy and Ethel travel with the murderess in a car and desperately try to escape. I agree that the 50s were the best! It is kind of funny that Lucy waits on Ricky so much, but that's just something that was done during those times. When I was little and stayed home sick from school, I would watch I Love Lucy, and I still enjoy watching it after a stressful day.
DeleteThe greatest television show ever created was Doctor Who. Doctor Who is a British science fiction show that has been on air since the 1960s and has only increased in popularity from generation to generation. The show is about a Timelord, which is an alien species, who travels throughout all space and time in his T.A.R.D.I.S (Time and Relative Dimension in Space) spacecraft. The ‘Doctor’ flies around in search of danger and adventure while sometimes stopping and bringing along a female human companion for company. The coolest aspect of the show is the Doctor’s regenerations. Since he is a Timelord, he has 12 regenerations in his life time, which is similar to a cat having 9 lives. Wherever he is close to death, his body can reboot its self and change appearance so he can survive. This clever twist to the show has kept it going for generations since anyone can play the doctor even when the actor leaves. Also, the Doctor is over a thousand years old now according to the last episode that aired this past Christmas. He’s the last of his kind and no one knows what his real name is. The show has had all sorts of plot lines from trips to the future, trips to other planets, other dimensions, and even to the past. Personally, my favorite episodes are the trips to the past because the twist on historic events is interesting (the Pompeii episode comes to mind). The show has mystery, action, love, suspense, loads of comedy, and just enough drama to rip your heart out and hate the writers. But despite the emotional trauma it puts me through; I am dying to see the next season. I am pretty sure it does not start until September though.
ReplyDeleteWow. Michelle, your favorite show sounds like something I would love. I'm into shows you would see on the Scifi Channel; your description of the Dr. Who show is completely of that genre. If it's anything like Starship Galactica, I'd be hooked.
DeleteI definitely need to watch Doctor Who. I've heard a ton of stuff about it but never took the time to watch it. I have no idea why, to be honest, but looks like I will have to binge watch a season sometime soon :)
DeleteSusie if you love Starship Galactica then you will LOVE Doctor Who! They are both fantastic.
DeleteMichael i'm telling you this is probably one of the greatest decisions you've ever made haha.
I found out about doctor who from a friend a few years ago and ended up watching all of the seasons in a few weeks. I think all the actors did a great job playing the Doctor, but David Tennant was the best. Who was your favorite doctor?
DeleteDoctor Who is a great show. I completely agree with Ajaypal, the 10th doctor was the best :)
DeleteI loved David! He was totally my favorite because he was so sassy. But Matt was such a nice guy and I appreciated him as the Doctor. Bow ties are indeed very cool!
DeleteThe greatest television show ever created would be “The Blacklist”. This show has recently come out last fall and I have been watching every episode since it started. It is about a crime drama that the most wanted criminal in the world turned himself to FBI, named Red, that no one really knew the reason behind it. He is smart, practically knows everything how to catch a criminal. They could not lock him up because he made a deal with the FBI to help get those villains lock up in jail. He uses his expertise to catch the most dangerous terrorist and criminals in the world. But the only person that he really talks to is this FBI agent named Elizabeth Keen, whom he asked to work with him since the beginning, which was strange. Throughout the show, they have become close, and Red was the father figure of this FBI agent. Unfortunately, she doesn’t really know him, but she trusts him with the work he does. He had warned about her husband, he had taught her to use her knowledge, trust no one, and work safely and carefully. She wanted him to stop jeopardizing her marriage life because she believed that her husband was innocent and doesn’t know anything about what she does. Red had led her to find the truth, but only her could walk on it and find it herself. She did not believe him, until from the last episodes, she found out that her husband was not what she thinks he is. The husband turned out to be one of those villains, but he doesn’t know that Elizabeth found out. For the upcoming episodes, I assumed that they will be playing with fire. This has been the only show I’ve watched from the beginning and I am ecstatic what’s going to happen next. If you guys haven’t watched this show, watch it. It’s worth it. It comes out every Monday night at 10 pm in NBC.
ReplyDeleteThis show sounds like fun. The suspense just keeps you watching doesn't it?
Deleteyes, it always keeps you guessing what's going to happen to the next episode
DeleteI watch that show, too. When Red told Elizabeth that he was not her dad, my gut was saying "LIAR." I really think that he is her father.
DeleteNoelle: I know! I think he's the father too!
DeleteI've been following this show since it started. I can't wait to see how Elizabeth deals with her husband.
Delete@ ajapal: I know! the new episode is this Monday,. I'm excited!
DeleteCurrently I do not watch television at all since I do not have time for it, but even when I did watch television a lot it is hard to choose the greatest television show ever. If I had to choose though, I would have to say True Life. Some of the things that I like about True Life are that they cover things that happen to everyday people. The things that True Life covers are from many different life styles and their topics are very interesting to watch. Topics that are covered are usually the bad habits of life. For Instance, there was one episode of a man who was addicted to cocaine and would do anything to get it including things that had the potential to harm him. I saw his struggles and his pain, but it was so emotional to see that he wanted to quit but couldn’t because it was out of his control. It was very disturbing and sad to watch a man destroy his life. In another episode, there was a lady who suffered from OCD and could had to touch an item a certain amount of times before leaving her home. The show allowed the viewers to see how this affected her routine life. I like True Life and would continue to watch it to this day if I wasn’t so busy. I think the show is great not only because it is interesting but also because it is educational and informative. I believe that people who watch this show can become more aware of the dangers of life and their consequences, and also develop a more sympathetic stance to people who suffer from conditions and situations that are broadcasted through this show. The show does not limit itself or discriminate the choice of audience, except I think children are too young to watch or understand the things covered on this show. Overall, the show allows people to see the world from the eyes of another people and experience their struggles. One of the best shows I’ve seen! The Office comes second in line.
ReplyDeleteI love this show! I watch it all the time. The older episodes were a little better, but I still watch it.
DeleteI also love The Office! I have seen every episode and came VERY close to crying in the last episode.
I love True Life! whenever a new episode airs i watch it at least five times haha
DeleteIt's so hard to choose for me which show was the greatest television show that was ever created because there were a lot of shows I thought were the greatest on television. If I had to choose, it would have to be a television show from my childhood. The greatest television show that was ever created was the Powerpuff girls, which ran for about five or six years and began in 1998. Basically, when I was little I would always want to come home from school just to watch the powerpuff girls. I was that excited about that show when I was young during the show's entire run. My friends and I would always picture ourselves as one of the three powerpuff girls. For me, I pictured myself as either the character Blossom or the character Bubbles, because my favorite color is pink and that was what Blossom would always wear and that my hair was always in some sort of pig tail form like Bubbles. I actually dressed up as the third powerpuff girl Buttercup for Halloween one year when I was in elementary school. The powerpuff girls gave me a sense of what superheros can be like from three girls. It showed me from a young girl's point of view of what it took for them to save the world. I picked this show as the greatest show ever created because it was one of my favorite shows as a kid. Most of the shows I watch now are good, but most of them can't compare to the shows I watched as a kid. What came close to the powerpuff girls were Rugrats, All That, Rocket Power, and Lizzie McGuire. I don't really watch them now as much because they rarely come on television anymore. So, back then when I was a child I would watch Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and the Disney Channel all the time before and after school. The powerpuff girls was to me one of the greatest television shows I have ever seen and takes me back to memory lane.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read everyone's greatest television shows,
Kristine
The Rugrats, All That, and Lizzie McGuire were/are great! When I was a kid I occasionally watched the Powerpuff Girls as well, but never got into it as much as those other three shows.
DeleteOh my gosh!!! I love all of those shows!!! I always wanted to be Buttercup growing up!!! I always got annoyed by the Mayor and the redhead who's face they would never show. I always loved Rocket Power!! I have tried to watch those shows on Youtube as an adult and it just isn't the same!! Haha!! I also really like The Wild Thornberrys. I feel like the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon just is not the same any more. I feel like the children nowadays are being so deprived.
DeleteOh the 90s were the best! Remember The Famous Jet Jackson? That was one of my favorites. Also, Boy Meets World! I cannot believe they are making another one. I will be watching Girl Meets World and probably raving to my siblings about how great Boy Meets World was back in my day (in an old granny voice) haha.
DeleteI was really into powerpuffs girls too when I was younger! Disney channels and Nicleodon were my favorites. I wish they could play some shows from awhile back, the current shows are not the same. And one show that I always watch is spongebob, until now. Its funny and made me feel like a kid again whenever I watch it. :)
Deletethe 90s shows were the best. Whenever i feel nostalgic i usually go on YouTube and watch Rocket Power and the older seasons of Spongebob. It just brings good memories when i watch shows that were aired as i was a child.
DeleteHi Gabi, yeah to me when I was younger I thought that the powerpuff girls was the best show that was ever created. I also love the three shows just as much.
DeleteHi Austin, I watched the wild thornberrys as a kid as well. I loved how the family lived in the wild forest. I also feel that the Disney channel and Nickelodeon is not the same anymore.
Hey Michelle, yeah I remember The Famous Jett Jackson, it was a good show but I didn't watch it very often. I also loved boy meets world but I don't know if I'm going to watch girl meets world.
Hi Romalyn, SpongeBob was one of my favorite shows too but I haven't watched any new episodes of the show for awhile.
Hi Richard, watching shows from the 90s brings back memories of my childhood. Watching Rocket Power made me feel like I wanted to know how to surf, skateboard, and live by the beach.
I am obsessed with TV shows. It's one of my bad habits because I find myself going to sleep at 3-4 in the morning due to me having to cram some tv time in. It is hard for me to choose just one of these best tv show ever made. I watch all different kinds of genres like Breaking Bad, Prison Break, I Love Lucy, Son of Anarchy, just to name a few. I think if I had to choose, it would be between Impractical Jokers or The Simpsons. However, I guess I would go with The Simpsons as being the best tv show ever made. It's a classic. They have over 500 episodes. I've been watching it since I was a kid. I remember my family and I would sit in the living room together every Sunday night for a new episode, and this was before everyone had internet. It never gets old; it's ageless. You can watch it anytime without having to be lost about the story line like many tv series. I'm sure everyone knows The Simpsons, but if you were living under a rock somewhere, it's a funny cartoon/animation about a family and their town named Springfield that do not seem to age (Well only in some episodes about the future). The characters are all unique. Homer, the dad, is one of my favorite character on the show. He is hilarious to me because they portray him as dumb, but loveable. In school, I remember kids at my school always imitate Homer by doing the dance that he runs in a circle on the floor, or by using his expression quotes like "d'oh" and "why you little." They are just unforgettable. When I think of The Simpsons, it brings a smile on my face because I get reminded of many funny episodes. I think all of their episodes are classic.
ReplyDeleteI love the Simpsons! Homer and Hans Moleman are my favorite characters, but I think it's really difficult to dislike any of the shows characters because they all have have their funny and even relatable moments when the storyline isn't too wild.
DeleteI love it when Homer is on the floor, while turning in a clockwise fashion, and goes, "Woop woop woop woop woop woop woop!". Do you know which character he is portraying? If you don't read my post.
DeleteWow, I haven't seen the Simpsons in a long time. It was my favorite show when I was younger. I remember my parents getting mad at me for watching them. They didn't like it. I didn't care I still watched it.
DeleteI remember Homer choking Bart and Itchy and Scratchy. I really enjoyed it back then.
I love watching The Simpson, but my dad hated that show! He would say that its pointless and you don't learn anything, so I could only watch it when he was not home. haha.
DeleteI did not know that Homer was portraying the dance from the 3 Stooges. It's funny. When you wrote about the "woop woop woop," it reminded me of Zoidberg in Futurama. Haha.
DeleteI think many parents hated that show. It is pointless, but it's funny. It's good to watch when you are having a bad day.
I used to watch the simpsons once in awhile when I was a kid, but not really anymore. I love all of the characters but my most favorite character was Homer. One of my favorite shows.
DeleteI do not watch a lot of TV shows, but when i was introduced to the TV show Teen Wolf 3 years ago i thought there was no TV show that could compare to it. The TV show incorporates the supernatural with the human world. From what I have heard, male viewers are some what embarrassed about watching this show because the title "Teen Wolf" it just seems very corny and girly. I'm not ashamed about what others say because the point of the show is full of drama and balances out the horror and romance that a lot of people are looking for when watching a TV show. It does involve supernatural creatures such as werewolves, immortal ninjas, and regular human beings, which may be the reason people are unattractive to the show. What makes the show interesting is that it is very suspenseful and action packed. Each episode starts of amazing, but the endings of each episode are the hooks. The endings of the episodes make you want to re watch the whole episode again and your are always on the edge of your seat. The acting and special effects of the show enhance the experience as well. The actors make it seem too realistic that people cry over an important scene. For example, one of the main characters named Allison finally died in the TV show by one of the Ninjas called "Oni". That specific scene was heartbreaking and very emotional. Jeff Davis who is the creator and director of the show incorporates these supernatural myths and adds his own twist and creativity.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading everyone's posts about their favorite TV show i feel like I am missing out on a lot. After high school i just stop watching TV shows. I have heard most of the shows but just never got the desire to watch them.
DeleteI love Teen Wolf! I think I've only watched the first and second season. I can't believe Allison died! Wait, did she really die, or is she going to make a comeback like in all those shows where the main character doesn't really die, and makes and return later on?
DeleteI am pretty sure she is dead for good because i saw a post on facebook from her personal facebook saying that "she wanted to discover something else in the acting industry and that because she is 27 it does not really fit her character as Allison anymore. You should definitely watch season 3 probably the best out of the 3 seasons.
DeleteHmm...If this was asked a few years ago I would have said King of the Hill. I love the humor and subtle nods at pop culture in that show so much. I'm just a fan of Mike Judge's work in general, really. But now I would have to say Game of Thrones. Nothing has captivated me more than that show. From the political intrigue of the North/South to the brutal and devastating killings that happen each season, there's nothing quite like it. In fact, I do not really watch much TV anymore, so for a show to captivate me for years like that is really impressive. I now just watch Netflix occasionally and watch movies so my knowledge in television shows is rather small, I will admit. But I just love the style of Thrones. The fact that no character is safe and everyone is treated equally in the show is probably the biggest reason why I love it. Too often do I see shows that focus on one or two characters and it is a given that those characters will make it to the end. It gets predictable. So to see a show be so different and keep characters equal throughout the show just makes everything feel more real, I guess. I know that sounds weird because it is a show in a fantasy setting but the characters themselves are portrayed perfectly and I never feel like any of their lives are taken for granted by any viewer. Not to mention the branching story lines in the show are complex but they make sense. Having a show with this much complexity is hard to pull off because it risks being convoluted but the show never gets to that point. The only thing that gets difficult to keep track of over time is the characters' names. So many characters! In short, I think it's the best show ever because of how different it is, how brutal it is, and how complex the storyline is.
ReplyDeleteKing of the Hill, along with The Family Guy, is going down as a classic. Wit & humor in an animated series is always awesome for us grown up kids. Game of Thrones is full of drama, brawn, dysfunction and lust. What's not to like.
DeleteKing of the Hill is definitely going down as a classic. That show just never gets old. I'm still frustrated Netflix took the show off of stream :(. I watched it all the time. Thrones is amazing and that opinion of mine just will not change haha so yup I agree!
DeleteI grew up on King of the Hill and the Simpsons since growing up we didn't have cable haha
DeleteMichael, I will have to add Game of Thrones to my list to view over the summer. I'm kind of a tv binger and that's why I love Netflix, I can set out a couple of days and just disappear into a show.
DeleteHaha I watched King of the Hill and Simpsons all the time with the family, too, Cindy. Godo times :)
DeleteJessica, as long as you have HBO you can watch the seasons. It's totally worth it. I'm the same way with Netflix, too. House of Cards was my most recent binging :)
House of Cards is fantastic! Talk about intense and ferocious. I couldn't get enough of the show. I can't wait for Netflix to release a new season.
DeleteIn my opinion, the best television show ever created is Heroes, based on the comic books The show is about a group of people who develop superhuman powers after a solar eclipse; for example, flying, time traveling, mind reading, talking to technology, and take other's powers. When the group first discovers they have powers they seem to abuse them, using the powers whenever they want, which makes it difficult to live how they used to, makes them targets to others, and turns out to be harmful in the long run for some. The tagline for the show was "save the cheerleader, save the world." The cheerleader had the ability to heal quickly, she could break many bones, but would heal in a matter of seconds. There was also a man who could kill and steal powers from the heroes; if this man were to steal the cheerleader's ability he would become immortal, making him more powerful than all others. There is also a group of individuals who try to contain and get rid of all those who have powers, one of the individuals is the cheerleader's adoptive father, which makes for some awkward moments for the family. Although Heroes is about people who have super powers, it is not limited to science fiction there is also suspense, and drama, which are all of interest to me. There is always impressive special effects by having people flying in the sky, people getting the tops of their heads sliced off, time traveling to the past and future, and When I was younger I would get overly excited to watch each week and the episodes would never disappoint.
ReplyDeleteI remember watching Heroes awhile ago. I enjoyed the powers that they had. Did you know that they are making an online prequel called Heroes Reborn? I hope they do not ruin the show.
DeleteI loved Heroes all the way up until they started imprisoning the people with powers. I still watched it though. Then they went to the circus plot. I ended my relationship with this show. It was a really good show though.
DeleteNoelle- Yes, I heard they were going to start an online show. I'm not sure if I will watch it, prequels don't usually do as well. :/
DeleteChelsea- The circus part was a little weird, but I couldn't stop watching it. I had already invested too much time into the show. :)
This is a tough question to answer as it is hard to think of great television without paying homage to the classics such as Alfred Hitchcock. But hands down, the Three Stooges was the greatest television series every created in the history of mankind. Larry, Moe, Curly, and sometimes Shemp, are still as hilarious today as they were when they originally came out in the 1930s. Physical comedy has always been a favorite of mine and that was the Stooges' specialty. When I was younger Moe was my favorite character as he was the leader and had the exact same haircut as I did. As I aged I realized that the best character truly is Curly. He plays the character so well and his antics are still portrayed in comedy today. Phrases like “why I otta”, “Woop woop woop woop woop woop woop!”, and “Wise Guys Eh” are well known by every generation.
ReplyDeleteIf you have yet to see the original Stooges in action, hop onto Hulu.com and be amazed at physical comedy that has made generations laugh. What is also great about the Stooges is that it is comedy for everyone. It is also interesting to see the way people talked back then. Girls were called “dolls” and guys were called “gents”. Overall the Three Stooges are a great show that is not one to disappoint.
Please do not bring up the remade movie from a few years back. I love the Farrelly brother’s movies (Dumb and Dumber, There’s Something About Mary, Hall Pass, etc.) but it is nearly impossible to match the bravado of history’s greatest trio.
I think it's awesome that you've seen the Alfred Hitchcock series! I used to watch the old Twilight Zone, and also Alfred Hitchcock Presents. I thought my family was one of the few to watch them. It's cool to think about others enjoying them too! I like the Three Stooges a lot. My father and his friend really like it too, and my father in law loves it! When I was younger, I thought Larry, Moe, and Curly were sort of lame. Now, however, I realize the comedy of the show is pretty brilliant. :]
DeleteAlfred Hitchcock Presents is great! I really liked the "Lamb to the Slaughter" episode. I've never been able to get too into the Three Stooges, but I respect the show and how it's been such an inspiration for a lot of actors, comedians, and people in general. I think I'll give the show another shot sometime, it's been awhile since I last saw an episode.
DeleteOverall the Three Stooges was a great show that is not one to disappoint.
ReplyDeleteThe greatest television show ever created (in my opinion) was Gilmore Girls. I've yet to meet someone who would even slightly agree with me on this, but I really feel like it was an underrated show. On the surface it appeared to be a run of the mill drama about the lives of a young single mom and her sixteen year old daughter, but I found it to be much more than that. It broke many stereotypes that people generally have about that kind of household. The show didn't constantly focus on the negatives of being a teen mom, but at the same time wasn't ignorant of the difficulties that are undoubtedly faced in that situation. The show depicted two strong and witty young women that had big dreams, tons of motivation, perseverance, and tons of pop culture knowledge. The show taught me that it’s perfectly fine to be a studious bookworm with a love for obscure music and film, while also having a tendency to talk really fast and really sarcastically (when it’s appropriate, of course). I began watching the show when I was about 12 and still watch reruns now that I’m 22. I still find myself laughing and learning new things when I watch the show, whether it be a Marx brothers reference or a life lesson and for that I firmly believe that it’s truly one of a kind and worthy of being considered a great television show.
ReplyDeleteI like Gilmore Girls, it's a pretty good show. I like how it shows not only the relationship between a mother and daughter, but relationships with the other characters in the show. Also, like you said I'm glad it doesn't focus too much on how Lorelai was a teen mother.
DeleteI loved Gilmore Girls' too. It was one of my favorites. I really felt a connection with the mother and daughter. I liked that even though Rory had a cool mom, she was still a good kid. They could have made her this terrible character but they went in the exact opposite of how TV would've today. They also made me want to live in their town.
DeleteChelsea, I wish I lived in Stars Hollow as well! I've always liked how close their community was and how crazy everyone seemed. Especially when they had festivals or weird events!
DeleteI used to watch Gilmore Gilrs, and i always end up singing the intro song even when i dont want to. The show is a little hard to understand sometimes because loreli makes jokes i do not understand but good show i must say.
DeleteThe great thing about these posts is that I read some of the shows and think, c'mon, seriously?, but then the reasoning behind the choice makes it clear. There is artistic value in some shows that seem low brow. The hard part then becomes narrowing a list to one choice. Regardless, good choices and good reasons so far!
ReplyDeleteHonestly I don’t watch much American or English television. When I was twelve I felt that television lost its quality. The standards of what scriptwriters believe our competency level severely dropped after I turned 12. It escalated to the point that almost everything that happened in most shows were explained or simplified for the audience. I felt like I was watching Dora the Explorer when I was watching Suit Life of Zack and Cody. There’s also the flaw of how reality television came to be. I don’t really like most of the things people feel they need to do in order to become famous. As I said before I don’t watch much American television but I do watch television. One of my favorite shows, and the in my opinion of the greatest television show invented, would have to be an South Korean Variety program called Running Man. Originally I only watched the shows because I saw it being commercialized (over the internet) rapidly. At the time the show was brand new and the writers were still getting a feel for how they wanted to run the show. It wasn’t necessarily top quality in the beginning, and they had to work out a few bugs. The format of this show consists of eight members who are the main cast. These cast members must complete several tasks in order to be considered the victor, or Running Man, of the episode. There are many obstacles in this game. Sometimes there are team competitions, special guests, spies, and the occasional solo competitions. Like I said before, this show didn’t necessarily start of perfect. There were many flaws, but as a viewer you got to see it grow, and feel as though you were a part of the show. The show isn’t necessarily omniscient 100% of the time, so you begin to guess hints with the cast members. There’s also the feeling that you learned something as the show ends. The games are explained only once in the show. The standard level of understanding isn’t lowered to the competency of a 6 year old. As a viewer you are expected to actually use your brain while you’re watching. I really like that quality in this show.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about television shows today. They do lack creativity and I also have a hard time finding something to watch when I have time on the weekends.
DeleteMy favorite television show would be Modern Family. It deals with three families that are interrelated. It betrays on issues most families might be dealing with today. You have a gay couple Mitch and Cameron who both want a child and adopt a Vietnamese baby girl. Then you have Jay who got divorced from his first wife and remarried a much hot younger one, Gloria. Gloria has a son from Jay and also a son (Manny) from her previous relationship. Then you have Claire and Phil. Phil considers himself as the cool dad and is a real estate agent. Claire is the busy housewife. She cares for her 3 children. My favorite character would be Cameron and Phil. I also enjoy watching Gloria. I like how she mistakes saxophone for a sexyphone and buys Jay a telephone shaped as lips. I love how each family is different but still love each other very much.
ReplyDeleteI also love the reality shows Master Chef, Project RunWay, and Celebrity Apprentice. I had to mention them they are as well one of my favorite things to watch.
Modern Family is the funniest show ever! I love the character Phil. He is so clueless and hilarious at the same time. Also I love the character Cameron. In real life the actor who plays him is straight so it's even funnier to me that he plays a gay guy so well.
DeleteModern family is hilarious! Gloria is my favorite character. She always makes me laugh. I could never get tired of watching it. After a long day in school, i just sit on my couch to watch the recorded ones and relax.
DeleteCristina, I have not had the privilege of watching Modern Family on a regular basis. I have seen a few episodes. The few that I did see was extremely funning. My favorites episode is when Mitch and Cameron are trying to allow their daughter cry in her crib at night. This was the exact episode my husband and I displayed with our children. Although, at the time I was unfamiliar of the story line I was a little confused. I love this show for the fact that we are all different as families yet, we are all the same.
DeleteThe greatest television show ever created is hard for me to choose. These days I don't have much time to watch television. I may have those rare times on the weekdays sometimes, but I find myself not finding anything to watch that is all that interesting. All the shows that are on television now are boring to me in my opinion. The "reality shows" seem to always talk about fake story lines and blow everything just for ratings. In my opinion I think all the greatest television shows were when I was growing up. Now and days they seem to lack actual creativity, so I am going to choose one that I grew up with that I think is the greatest television show. This show is the Simpsons, which have been running for about 25 years. The Simpsons, for those of you that don't know is an animated sitcom that is about a working class family that always has new and fun situations happening. The Simpsons family is a family of five that live in Springfield and the creator of the show is Matt Groening. The whole cast is rather interesting and the characters are all interesting in their own way. My favorite character is Bart because he has a unique sense of humor, but I can relate to Lisa the most because I always got picked on by my brother growing up and, I went through similar situations. I could relate to this family and would always look forward to watching it every Sunday growing up with my family. The show always had funny episodes and this is why I think this is the greatest television show.
ReplyDeleteAt a certain extent i would have to agree with you Cecilia. I don't watch television as much as i did in high school because of the tv shows and time. I hear a lot of good things about a certain tv show and people recommend that i watch it, but i just lost the desire to watch tv over the years. Even though "reality shows" are fake those interest me mainly because of the drama.
DeleteWow Cecilia,
DeleteYou and I couldn't be more alike. I too do not have time to watch television. I actually do not have cable because I refuse to pay for something I rarely watch. I agree with you on the reality tv shows today. My family and coworkers have more real drama than any show I have seen on tv. Anyway their drama on tv is not even real. I also love the Simpsons; although, my mother did not allow me to watch it as a child. After I met my fiancé I was introduced to the Simpsons it is a very creative show and never gets old.
In my opinion the greatest show ever created is Once Upon A Time (still running and on season 3 on ABC). I feel like it’s a continuation to every fairy tale we know with an added twist. For example, we have all heard the Snow White and Prince Charming story. Snow wakes up from the sleeping curse then they get married and live happily ever after! What if the story did not end there? Well, on Once Upon A Time, as it turns out, Snow White had a daughter named Emma. Unfortunately, the Evil Witch casts a curse in which all the fairy tale characters who lived in the Enchanted forest are be transported to another land and Emma is the only one ho can break the curse and save them. So Emma, as a baby, is transported through a magic portal, and her family is also transported to current day Maine in a town called Storybrooke. All these fairly tale characters are living their everyday lives in an unknown town not remembering who they are, while Emma is the only one who can break the curse and return their memories. This is an especially interesting show since it gives an alternate reality to how each character previously lived in the enchanted forest and elaborates in their previous life and all the events leading to the curse, and also how they are now living in current day Maine with Emma attempting to break the curse along with the son she gave up for adoption years ago. In other words, Snow White has a grandchild! It’s an entertaining show with good, bad, evil and everything else in between.
ReplyDeleteI love this show! My 14 year old daughter and I watch it together.
DeleteNever watched Once Upon A Time but I've heard great things about it! Need to watch this show now :)
DeleteJessica: I try not to watch it during the quarter but it's so hard! I caught up with the show over spring break and there are so many good things happening right now which makes it hard to stop watching until the summer hahah.
DeleteMichael: You definitely should! I initially thought there was no point to it, I mean displaced fairy tale characters who don't remember who they are? However, I am now obsessed!
DeleteMichael: you have to start watching it on Netflix if you can. That way you can be hooked from the first episode.
DeleteIt's on Netflix? I had no idea! Definitely easier to binge watch it then. Thank you, Elizabeth and Jessica :).
DeleteI have to agree with Tyler and say Breaking Bad is an amazing show. I love the dynamic relationship between Jesse and Walt. Another one of my all time favorites is House of Cards. Kevin Spacey plays a ruthless congressman named Frank Underwood who has aspirations of taking over the White House. His wife is equally as ruthless and together they make up a powerful couple that takes down anyone who stands in their way. The reason I love this show so much is that it takes you into the day to day operation of the government. I'm sure its not 100% accurate but it gives you a glimpse of how congressmen interact with the President and how things get done in politics. Many situations arise where Frank Underwood is challenged by opposition, whether it be on an election or a bill that is being passed. No matter what is thrown his way, he always has a way of getting out of predicaments and getting what he wants. Everything he does also fits into a grand master plan that culminates in him becoming President. Its interesting to see how Frank accomplishes his political goals and how easily he can manipulate those around him. It makes me think of how our government is run and how things really happen behind closed doors. Although the show is purely fictional, it's curious to me that things like that could be happening in real time. Like in one particular incident, Frank uses a fellow congressman as his pawn so he can gain traction in the White House. He even goes to the extent of killing this person and setting it up as a suicide. He has no morals and yet he has a pivotal spot in our government and how the country is run. He gets caught up in many other scandals and he always has a way to play them out to his advantage. It just makes me think of the kind of things that go on in our government that we never will know about because it gets covered up. But overall I love this show and highly recommend it to anyone who likes suspenseful political dramas. It also appeals to those who aren't into politics because there are scandalous relationships and drama that goes on. It's on Netflix so it's really awesome when they release new episodes because it has the entire season with no commercials.
ReplyDeleteThis may sound dorky but the best show ever created would have to be Pokemon. I remember watching Pokemon ever since I was six years old, in 1998. I remember it would always come on at 4 o’clock on channel five, so right after school my brothers and I would anxiously wait in front of the television screen to watch it. I would always be so sad whenever I missed it, since back in the day TiVo didn’t exist! I loved everything about the show. As a little kid, I sometimes wished that the cuddly and cute Pokemon were real, so I could own one. Although it was basically the same plot every episode I would watch it with such zeal. Ash, the main character, was striving to become the Pokemon master. Alongside his friends Misty, Brock, and his Pikachu, they journeyed around the Kanto region battling fellow Pokemon trainers and obtaining the gym badges. Team Rocket (the bad guys) would always try to ambush Ash and his friends, and would try to steal his Pikachu. Ash was always victorious in escaping or kicking the hoodlums to the curve. I loved Pokemon so much, that I had a Pokemon backpack, notebook, even clothes(!!). Even though I don’t watch Pokemon as much as I used to, I still have love for the show. Whenever an old rerun of the show is playing on TV, it brings me wonderful flashbacks of my childhood.
ReplyDeleteWow. How can i forget about Pokemon. I think like you Cindy Pokemon was my favorite tv show as a child growing up. I played the video games, watched every episode, and most of the movies. My favorite episode was when Ash first met Pickachu and he was trying to capture him, but every time he would capture him Pickachu would always come out of the pokeball.
DeleteMy brothers, sisters, and I would always watch Pikachu when we were small. It was one of the few things that we all liked and had in common. It's a great show and too bad it doesn't run anymore but it was fun while it lasted. We also liked watching Yugioh.
DeleteThe greatest show of all time, by far, was the twilight zone. The science fiction show was originally created by Rod Sterling in 1959 and although he wasn’t the only one in the world of science fiction during that time, I feel like he was different because he brought horror and science fiction together. Every episode of the twilight zone was different but as a series it held the same uncanny ability to get who ever was watching it to question everything they ever learned about reality and the world. I have to say that the thing that impresses me most about the twilight zone is that it is frightening even in comparison to modern day horror and science fiction. It amazes me that even without dramatic special effects, the twilight zone was able to instill fear in the viewers the way that it did. The thing that separates the twilight zone from other science fiction that I have seen is that the victims in each episode were under extreme psychological distress in which almost every instance they become their own enemy and question their own sanity. People don’t realize that the thing that scares us the most is going crazy. Also, he used scenarios that featured people doing normal things in their everyday life, which made it relatable to the viewer instead of placing the victim in a situation that is unrealistic that the viewer could probably not see himself or herself in, like visiting a Jurassic park or a ghost town. I think that is amazing because it shows that there is enough horror here in the real world to fear so it is not always necessary to make up monsters. There was the perfect mix of realistic fear and supernatural fear.
ReplyDeleteChantel, I completely agree that the twilight zone is probably one of the most scariest television shows I had seen. Although, I am not a fun of the twilight zone because it being a horror series. I remember being up late at night watching t.v and you would hear the frightening theme song of the twilight zone come on. That song was scary enough for me. I would hurry and flip the channel. I did watch a episode before, and promised myself never to watch another one again. I believe I had dreams for a week. You are absolutely right the creator did a fascinating job using instilling fear without the dramatic special effects.
DeleteI use to watch it on netflix eery night but i had a really creepy dream and haven't brought myself to start watching it again
DeleteI remember hearing the theme song when I was really little and feeling immediately scared. That song alone is enough to make me cover my ears and turn it off. I have seen a few episodes that had an interesting message attached to it but it's definitely not a show I could watch regularly.
DeleteThe greatest television show ever created was The Voice. The Voice is a reality television show and branches off the television show American Idol. The Voice begins its season with four judges that will have their back turned from the contestants. This is the time in the show where the judges only hear their “voice”. The contestants are not judged by their appearance or show presence. The judges will push their button for the contestant they are interested in. Their chair will turn around and this indicates that that particular judge is interested in the contestant becoming on their team. This season the judges are Adam Levine, Usher, Shakira, and Blake Shelton. I enjoy watching this show because it’s a show that both my husband and I can enjoy. The banter of Adam and Blake is hilarious. These four judges is key to the show. You are able to see their different genres and strength of vocal instruction. Blake Shelton is a country music artist and he is my absolutely favorite judge. He radiates his personality through the show. I get that laid back feeling from him. He seems to be a person I could totally hang out with and have a beer with. The goal of the show for the contestant of course is to become “The Voice” winner. The judge’s goal is to have one of the contestants from their team win. The judge will gain bragging rights for the next seasons to come. I enjoy this show because you get to see the growth of the contestants. At some point in the season, you will witness some monumental moment for a contestant that is purely enjoyable to the ears. These contestants grow and flourish in their talent. Each week a contestant will be eliminated, and it’s this moment I enjoy because I like to guess who gets eliminated before they announce it. The Voice is filled with pure entertainment, like watching a concert in the comfort of your own home.
ReplyDeleteI can't possibly think of the "greatest" TV show of all time. As I've matured and life situations have changed my taste in television has changed. The one guilty pleasure I enjoyed over the Winter break was The Tudors. This historical drama originally aired on Showtime but I found it on Netflix. I have never had any interest in King Henry the VIII. He always seemed like a spoiled king and a disgusting villain. Watching The Tudors brought his character depth and made me almost feel sorry for him. The costumes and set designs brought to life an age that seemed dark and dreary. The characters drew me into the story line and made me feel invested in what was happening. At first I was surprised that Jonathan Rhys Meyers really looks nothing like any of the portraits of King Henry, but his charisma draws the entire court to do his bidding. I found myself looking online to find out who the next woman in his life would be and which details of the storyline were accurate. The connections between the European monarchies and the Catholic church was also very fascinating. I felt a loss and may have even grieved a bit when I finished the last episode. An emotional connection that strong made enjoying The Tudors a very satisfying experience.
ReplyDeleteThe Tudors is one my favorites also. JRM and Henry Cavill were both amazing in this series.
DeleteThe Tudors is one of my guilty pleasure as well. It made me want to investigate the history behind the story and i even picked up a book about it.
DeleteThe greatest show ever created is Justified, which is based on a series of books. The main character, Raylan Givens, is a Deputy U.S. Marshal, who is transferred from Florida to Lexington, Kentucky for forcing a criminal to pull out his gun so he can shoot him. Raylan is like a character from an old western because his form of justice is a bullet and has a very quick draw. In Lexington, he is assigned to Harlan County, where he grew up. His insight and knowledge of the criminal activities and criminals there, including his father, gives him an advantage when dealing with them. In the first season, Raylan goes up against the Crowder family, particularly Boyd Crowder, known for his silver tongue. The first season sets up their enmity/friendship that can be seen through the series. Each season has a new story arc and villain, sometimes more than one, that Raylan faces. But the most intriguing part of each season is the interactions between Boyd and Raylan. It’s interesting to see Raylan trying to take down a particular criminal and Boyd either helping or hindering Raylan’s investigation based on his own interest of expanding his criminal organization. There is one season left for the series and I can’t wait to see how the situation between Boyd and Raylan plays out.
ReplyDeleteThe greatest show ever made would have to be Breaking Bad. This show is without a doubt the most emotionally draining show I've ever seen and I believe that is why I became so invested in the show to begin with. Writer/ director Vince Gilligan and his crew did an amazing job creating character who you could root for as well as others who you could loathe entirely. The evolution of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman over the seasons was encouraging and heartbreaking. Just when you think that it can't get any worse for Jesse or that Walt couldn't possible be any more malicious, the story takes an unexpected turn and you're left covering your mouth in disbelief. I can't tell you guys how many times I walked away after an episodes ended muttering something like "how could you, Vince Gilligan?!" I loved the way flashbacks were used throughout the show even though the meaning of them sometimes wasn't clear until much later. I wish this show didn't have to end but at least there were no loose ends to stew over afterwards.
ReplyDeleteOkay Heather,
DeleteYou are probably the eighth person to give such a great review for this show. I am so tempted to get cable just to watch this show. It seems amazing. I really need to catch up.
Abigail is right. I have seen far too many great reviews for this show to not start watching it on Netflix tonight.
DeleteOne of my oldest memories is of my cousins huddled around the television watching an episode of The Wonder Years. It’s no wonder why that show, Doogie Howser, M.D., and The Cosby Show were all some of my favorite television series of all time. They represent a simple, fun, and exciting time of my life that are dear to me. Setting aside all nostalgia and just picking one of my absolute most favorite shows, I would have to select Monk as my favorite. It was a perfect combination of mystery and absolute comedy. Actor Tony Shalhoub gave one of the best performances as OCD detective Adrian Monk. The character’s style of crime scene investigation and criminal profiling was intense and intriguing. His relentless search to uncover the mystery of his wife’s murder was one of the most important ongoing themes throughout the series. I had mixed emotions when he finally solved the case. On one hand, I miserly wanted to know why his wife was murdered and who the murderer was just as much as Monk did. On the other hand, I knew that discovering the truth would ultimately finalize the existence of the series. There needed to be a deeper purpose for the furthering of the show, and solving the case devoid all other meaning. Just as I feared, when Monk solved the case, a few loose ends to the story of Monk were wrapped up and the Monk that I had loved since 2002 would have to be revisited through reruns of the show’s past seven years. With all the different drama-comedy mystery shows that have, are being, or will be aired, there still can only be one Monk.
ReplyDeleteI do not have cable and have not had it for five years. I do not follow any one show and I only watch something if I can access it through YouTube. My favorite show right now is Cake Boss. I love watching Cake Boss because one goal on my life bucket list is to open my own bakery someday. I love this show because all the characters are completely different and bring so much personality to the show. I enjoy listening to the accent that the entire family on Cake Boss has because they have an Italian New Yorker accent. The cakes on Cake Boss can be over the top sometimes and seem to be made up of other ingredients besides cake. The reason why I like the show either way is because the family is large, they all work together in the bakery, and most of all I just love the talent that Buddy has. Buddy is the boss at the bakery and he is an amazing cake designer. I do not like reality shows, but Cake Boss is different. There drama seems to be real life issues, worries, and events that happen on a day-to-day basis. I come from a large family and often times realize while watching Cake Boss that my family is not the only one to have such issues. To visit Carlo’s Bake Shop in New Jersey is yet another wish on my bucket list. Therefore, in a sense when I watch Cake Boss it builds my anticipation for someday visiting the shop and helps me imagine how my own bakery would be run someday.
ReplyDeleteI've watched entirely too much television in my lifetime to pick just one "greatest show of all time" but if I had to choose just one of my top shows I'd choose 'Lost.' I found this show well after it's original air date when I was browsing Netflix one day and I'm so glad I did. The series tells the story of a plane that disappears while on its way from Australia to LA. It crash lands on a 'magical' island that's full of secrets and intrigue. The show follows the lives of the passengers as they try to survive, not get killed or captured by the natives and get home. It's was such a well written and acted show that was very addicting. I watched during a time when I was unemployed so I finished the series, all 100+ episodes in a little over a week.
ReplyDelete
